The Radek Family
How the La Crosse Area Autism Foundation Grant has benefited my family and my child with Autism
In the summer of 2017, my family spent very little time outside enjoying our backyard. Our son could not follow commands, such as “stop” or “wait here” which meant that each time we took him outside, we could have found ourselves in a very serious situation. The simple task of taking him outside to play meant that either mom or dad would have to be on high alert at all times to ensure his safety.
The La Crosse Area Autism Foundation Grant went towards purchasing a fence that was installed at the end of March 2018. Now instead of constant worry, we actually look forward to playing outside with our son. This gives us the perfect secure place to help our son learn about the dangers of being outside. It also allows him to have his sensory needs met by being able to run, jump and play. We are so grateful that this foundation was able to help us!
